YOUR OWN CELLS. A NEW APPROACH TO SKIN REJUVENATION.
What if we could use your own cells to support your skin’s natural renewal process? That’s the idea behind Acorn Biolabs, a new approach to regenerative aesthetics that starts with something you already have, your hair follicles.
At Sknloft, we’re always looking for ways to go beyond simply treating what we see on the surface. Healthy, beautiful skin is about more than a temporary glow. It’s about supporting the skin, improving its overall quality and creating a treatment plan that works toward your long term goals. Acorn gives us another way to approach that and we are so excited to be the first in Cochrane to offer this treatment!
01. We collect your hair follicles
Your journey starts with a quick appointment at Sknloft. A small number of hair follicles are gently collected from the sides and back of your scalp. These follicles are then carefully sent to the Acorn laboratory, where the next part of the process begins.
02. Your cells are preserved
Once your follicles arrive at the lab, the cells are carefully processed and preserved. Think of this as creating a personal biological bank account.
Your cells are stored so they can be used to create personalized regenerative products in the future. It means you’re not just thinking about the skin you want today but your skin for years to come.
03. Your cells create the good stuff
Our cells naturally communicate with one another. They release signaling molecules, including growth factors and other proteins, that play a role in communication between cells. Acorn uses your preserved cells to create what’s called a secretome.
04. WE PAIR THEM WITH YOUR TREATMENTS
Once your personalized secretome is ready, it can be incorporated into your treatment plan at Sknloft. We typically use it alongside treatments that create controlled microchannels in the skin, such as microneedling or Tixel.
These treatments intentionally create tiny channels in the skin as part of the treatment process. This gives us an opportunity to introduce the secretome while the skin is already actively responding to the treatment. Think of it as creating the right environment for your skin, and then giving it additional signals to work with.
05. We use it to support your skin goals
Ultimately, this isn’t about changing your face. It’s about improving the quality of your skin. Depending on your individual treatment plan, regenerative treatments may be used to support concerns such as texture, fine lines, pigmentation and overall skin quality.
For someone wanting smoother looking skin, we can build a plan around texture and refinement. For someone noticing early signs of aging, we can focus on supporting the appearance of firmness and skin quality. For someone dealing with uneven pigmentation or a tired looking complexion, we can combine regenerative treatments with other treatments and skincare to work toward a brighter, more even looking result.
06. THE FuTure
Your stem cells with stay preserved for future use. They continue to stay cryopreserved at Toronto General Hospital for future use in aesthetics or as the industry evolves, in other areas of regenerative medicine, freezing the hands of time. You own your own cells so if other treatments become available in the future whether it be in Canada or other countries, you are able to use your cells. They are currently working on studies with diabetes, fertility, orthopaedics etc.
Your skin today. Your cells for tomorrow.
One of the most fascinating parts of Acorn is that the process doesn’t begin with a product sitting on a shelf. It begins with you.
Your hair follicles. Your cells. Your biology.
From collection and cell banking to creating your personalized secretome and incorporating it into your treatment plan, every step is designed around creating a more personalized approach to regenerative skin rejuvenation. Your Acorn journey starts with a consultation at Sknloft. We’ll look at your skin, talk through your goals and determine whether incorporating Acorn into your treatment plan makes sense for you.
